A snowy Sunday in Ohio

Greetings from Northeast Ohio! Yesterday was quite a day here in Greene. Temperature kept dropping and wind was blowing and we had snow. Sounds like a rather typical winter day, but it wasn't. Tim and I were on the way to church and the going was sort of rough in places. When we got to Hartman corners on Rt 87, we made it around the first corner just fine, but around the second corner heading to the RR tracks, we got in a white out. Tim could only see the telephone poles to see if we were on the road. Luckily we stayed on the road! Over the railroad tracks, we ran into another white-out situation and very slippery roads. We fishtailed all over the place and Tim did a marvelous job of keeping us on the road, but just as we were about out of the spot a car was coming at us. We came together - her front fender versus our driver door - and we slid effortlessly into a deep ditch. Everyone was okay, thank goodness. We called AAA, 911, and Jeff. Jeff came and picked me up and took me to church. Tim stayed in the car and met with a state trooper, the "other guys" and the tow truck. When we got home and tryed to start a fire, the fire place started smoking. So Tim went up on the roof and cleaned off the screen on the chimney. He tried for about an hour to get a good fire going and ended up sitting through all that in a very smoky room with a window open. Finally gave up. We read books in by the computer, ate supper in the "formal dining room", and ended up watching TV in the bedroom! Oh, yes, we did have tickets to the Cavaliers for Sunday evening. Needless to say, we did not go to Cleveland and the tickets went unused. But for our warm house, and our luck at getting out of an accident without a scratch (on us) we are very grateful.
